SOCIETY NAME CHANGE APPROVED IN PITTSBURGH!
The turnout for the 43rd Annual Meeting in Pittsburgh last week was wonderful, with 132 members and guests at the Saturday night banquet. The Student Photo Contest winners were announced and prizes awarded by the contest sponsor, Manchester Bidwell Corporation of Pittsburgh, PA.
At the business meeting on Saturday, October 15, the membership voted to change the name of the society to LHSA: The International Leica Society. The name change was recommended at the spring board meeting by the Future Planning Committee headed by Secretary/Treasurer Thomas Campbell, III, and was approved by the LHSA Board of Directors.
Throughout the week in Pittsburgh, members enjoyed touring local points of interest, especially the beautiful architecture in Oakland and the University of Pittsburgh campus where the headquarters hotel was located. A highlight of the week was the Friday visit to Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater. See the Event Photo Gallery on this site and the LHSA Facebook page to view images.
Many thanks to all who participated and helped make the meeting such a success: Doug Drumheller, LHSA Vice President, and his wife Jean; Mervin S. Stewart, M.D., LHSA board member, and his wife Marcia; Rolf Fricke, LHSA President Emeritus and this year's Program Director; and LHSA members Jan Wright and Faye Grimwood.
M9 Review from DIGICAMBUYER.COM
A great review of the LEICA M9 and a clear explanation of the rangefinder camera vs. DSLR. The M9 is introducing many digital people to the LEICA M - the paintbrush of so many masters.
